LEGAL EXECUTIVES - Career Pathways

Where would you find Legal Executives?

Most Legal Executives work in law firms, though there are opportunities in government departments, local authorities and financial institutions. A career as a Legal Executive offers equal opportunity and reward to men and women.

What type of jobs do you do?

Legal Executives working in law firms attend to a wide range of legal work, generally specialising in one or more of the following areas:

  • Residential and/or commercial conveyancing
  • Estate administration
  • Trust formation and administration
  • Estate planning
  • Litigation

Where do you start?

Many Legal Executives start their careers as legal secretaries or support staff and grow into the Legal Executive role as they gain experience and are delegated more responsibility within their firms. The majority go on to gain the New Zealand Law Society Legal Executive qualification. With the qualification and experience they are sought after members of the legal profession.
