9. BRANCHES
9.1 Establishment of Branches:
The Council may establish and constitute or encourage a Member or
Members to establish or constitute a Branch of the Institute for
any geographical area of New Zealand.
9.2 Areas of Branches: The
Council may from time to time determine, form, adjust, amalgamate
or divide the geographical area covered by any Branch or Branches
of the Institute.
9.3 Funding of Branches by Institute:
The Council may, in its discretion, pay or allocate funding
from the funds of the Institute in order to establish, constitute
and maintain a Branch or to assist a Member or Members to establish,
constitute and maintain a Branch.
9.4 Requirements for Establishing Branches:
9.4.1 The Council may from
time to time prescribe provisions, requirements, qualifications
or restrictions for the establishment or constitution of a Branch.
9.4.2 Any provisions, requirements,
qualifications or restrictions prescribed by the Council must
be set out in writing.
9.4.3 Any Branch established
or constituted shall only be established or constituted in accordance
with the provisions, requirements, qualifications or restrictions
set out in writing and in accordance with the Rules.
9.5 Branch Rules:
9.5.1 A Branch may adopt
rules providing for membership of the Branch, subscriptions, procedure
and such other matters as it thinks fit provided that the rules
of the Branch comply with the terms of the provisions, requirements,
qualifications and restrictions set out in writing under the Seal
and with the terms of the Rules.
9.5.2 The rules of a Branch
must be approved by the Council before they are adopted by the
Branch and come into effect.
9.6 Membership of Branches:
Any Member of the Institute is also a member of the Branch established
in the area in which that Member works.
9.7 Operations of the Institute
within a Branch Area: The establishment and constitution
of a Branch shall in no way restrict the operation of the Institute
in the area in which that Branch operates.
9.8 Existing Branches: At
the date of adoption of the Rules the Branches of the Institute
are Auckland, Waikato, Rotorua/Bay of Plenty/Gisborne, Wellington,
Nelson, Canterbury and Otago.
9.9 Representatives of Branches:
Each Branch of the Institute must from time to time nominate from
the council or committee of the Branch a person to act as Councillor
of the Institute and to represent the Branch at meetings of the
Council.
